Development

Building the people and places minifootball needs, from referees and coaches to youth teams and certified pitches.

Referees and coaches

BMFA appoints referees, observers, commissioners and timekeepers through an approved process, and trains them to the WMF Rules of the Game.

  • Minifootball rules workshops for clubs, coaches and officials
  • Referee and coach scouting
  • Workshops on character, mindset and communication
  • Match officials report at least 60 minutes before kick-off

Youth and grassroots

A youth pathway from local turf to the national team, built into club licensing from season one.

  • A proposed minimum of four local players aged 15 to 18 in every NMFL squad
  • Guardian consent and safeguarding for every player under 18
  • Youth programmes recommended for clubs now, academies required in later seasons

Women’s minifootball

Women’s teams are part of the development tier of club licensing and of BMFA’s plan to widen participation after the first season.

  • Women’s teams in the club licensing development tier
  • More women’s participation planned for later seasons

Venue standards

Before any fixture BMFA publishes pitch, goal, ball and technical-area specifications, and certifies each venue against them.

  • Field markings and goals
  • Lighting and safe access
  • Medical arrangements and changing facilities
